Re: Patients who can't take estrogen - what are you using to treatFrom: charlie chambers (cchamber@mnic.net)Tue Jan 12 22:02:18 1999
From: "charlie chambers" <cchamber@mnic.net> To: ob-gyn-l@obgyn.net Mime-version: 1.0 X-Priority: 3 Content-type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII" Content-transfer-encoding: 7bit I'm curious about your definition of "synthetic" estrogens? Premain is about as natural as one can get, though I can understand the repugnancy regarding the source. The other estrogens, Estrace, etc are all derived from soy, and yam sources. Natural progesterone cream is manufactured in powder form in a pharamceutical plant in New Jersey then distributed for formulation in gel, cream, etc. So, the common myth that natural is better than "synthetic" has always been a rather confusing one that I don't believe is based in fact, but propaganda, and misinformation. Please correct me if I'm mistaken. If we eliminate this rather abritrary definition, then I would prefer to ingest what is better studied, purity controlled, and proven benefit, wouldn't you? -- ############################################################################

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
