Re: Brachial Plexus/Erb's PalsyFrom: Anna Meenan, MD (annam@uic.edu)Wed Jan 6 13:03:41 1999
I think it's important to remember that the majority of brachial plexus injuries do not involve avulsion of multiple cervical nerve roots and in your basic Erb's palsy there is usually good residual fine motor function in the hand and fingers. I would guess that an injury which would require amputation because of a totally flail and useless limb would be extremely rare.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
