It was when I was chief resident. The anaesthetist (who was a really slick Indian guy) and I were both resident on L&D. The admission room was next to my room. Our most senior and best midwife was on duty. The woman was a multip with a frank abruption and bradycardic fetus. She came in by ambulance. I personally dragged the trolley from admission to theatre. The brake was jammed so it left a black skid mark all along the corridor for months afterwards. Everyone worked really fast as we were certain we were going to lose the baby. Once the baby was out, I forgot to relax. It was after I closed the Rectus sheath that the anaesthetist looked at the clock and pointed out we probably didn't need to be racing anymore. The baby did really well after a short stay on the neonatal unit. Malcolm Griffiths MD,MRCOG,MFFP,Cert.Mgmnt Obstetrician & Gynaecologist Luton & Dunstable Hosp.,UK. The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
