In 1995 in the Lancet (345:1455-63) there was published a collaborative Eclampsia trial in which I worked with my hospital (Hospital Fernandez - Argentina) and the results were stunning. There was a significative higher repetition of convulsions in the diazepam group (so was in the phenitoin group) and greater maternal mortality. After that trial nobody should use diazepam or phenitoin any more in Eclampsia.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
