I have a patient who had a sonohysterogram as part of an infertility w/u. It revealed an asymptomatic defect about 1 cm wide on the endometrial side. At the apex of the defect, the myometrium was 2 mm thick. She got pregnant. I consulted multiple perinatologists and the consensus opinion was to do serial ultrasounds and intervene only if the pregnancy herniated into the bladder. She will have elective c/s before labor. Hopefully everything will go ok. A literature search revealed on case of a goretex graft placed over such a defect at 17 wks (successful) Annette Lee MD FACOG IVF New Jersey

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
