I recently changed to a similar system. I fired my answering service for similar reasons mentioned in several other messages. What I use is a combination of answering machine and alphanumeric pager with voicemail. If I am not on call we have an answering machine with announcements for each of the doctors who cover for me. It tells who is on call and how to reach them. It also allows them to leave messages about appointments and billing questions etc. When I am on call we call foreward to my alphanumeric pager. It has a built in voicemail which allows voice messages. It pages me whenever a message is left. It will also allow direct entry of numbers for paging. It also will show alpanumeric messages which can be sent by computers, other (covering doctors) answering services or small terminals. I have been using this for about 2 mo now and it is working well. I have one of the terminals at home and one at the office.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
