I do listen prenatally with my elegant little Allen fetoscope as a means of confirming position and presentation, but most labouring women prefer the freedom of movement that listening with the doppler gives them. I think that "true" ausculation with a fetoscope is becoming a lost art. I think that probably the SOGC and ACOG are referring to dopplers in their use of the term auscultation, but your point is well taken.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education.
