Precocious pubertyFrom: Cyril J van Gelderen (vangel@pixie.co.za)Sat Aug 29 10:32:04 1998
I am treating a 9-year old with monthly Zoladex (goserelin, 3.6mg). It has stopped menstruation and she is growing (currently 146cms), but breast development is continuing. This is a constitutional precocious puberty, with no cause found after extensive investigation. She remains a little girl emotionally, and the breast development is distressing her. I guess its related to persisting low levels of E2 (we know from treatment of Turners that you need low estrogens to promote breast development), but I would welcome any advice. Ciaou CvG

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
