Re: Being Polite to midwives

I have never gotten the impression from reading this forum that any of the midvives who post to it feel they are smarter or better than the MD's. I have seen some pretty good data that suggests, in the population they serve, outcomes at least as good as, if not better than OB's obtain in the same populations. In addition, they have taught me things that brought the joy back into practicing obstetrics, alleviated some of my fears, and even saved my butt on a couple of occasions. The OB's who read this forum would be well-advised to read and take seriously what the midwive's post, or at the very least not to dismiss it out of hand with condescending comments, at least not without hearing the evidence that usually backs it up.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
