This is in answer to Dr. Braun's question:

Yes, I feel that having the results of a Ob-hypertension profile package (as we call it in our hospital) is worthwhile. It is true that most if not all patients with severe preeclampsia at any gestational age, or those with mild preeclampsia at term require delivery. However, the length of the ripening and induction period may be guided by the "severity" of the disease process. One might be less conservative and less likely to prolong an induction in a patient with DIC, hemolysis, or markedly elevated liver enzymes.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
