Re: abdominoplastyFrom: DoctorJoe@aol.comSun Jun 14 09:13:11 1998
In a message dated 6/14/98 7:47:54 AM, you wrote: <<How do you do an abdominal hysterectomy without opening the vagina? Or did you mean you would not do an abdominoplasty if you did an abdominal hysterectomy? Would your opinion change if the patient was thin except for the lower abdomen and wanted an abdominoplasty at time of abdominal hysterectomy?>> I've done them at the time of TAH... My original question was, would the possibility of an abdominoplasty cause you to switch your thinking from TVH to TAH. The discussion so far has been interesting. It seems that people are afraid of abdominoplasty (and I'm only talking about a "small" subumbilical operation - not one of the big ones where you need to move the umbilicus) if the vagina has been opened, which they equate with TAH. I'm a little more sanguine about that, especially considering that this is a "relatively" small procedure, and the way I do it the layers close well (i.e., no big overlapping flaps). Anyway, it's an interesting discussion. Joe P.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
