If the mother is awake enough to breastfeed then there isn't enough of any general anesthetic agent in her system to cause any harm, and most of them are not absorbed in the GI tract anyway, which is why they are given IV or by inhalation. She can breastfeed whenever she is alert enough to do it.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education.
