Re: birth circumstancesFrom: DKJohnson (violet2@i2k.com)Tue May 19 22:21:50 1998
I know this is a week or two late, but I have been a bit behind on my e-mail!! Born to a G3P1 who smoked until she couldn't stand the taste of cigarettes, (Said that the first thing she asked for after the birth was a cigarette!!) PROM two weeks prior to my birth. Mom was sent home and told to come back when she was in labor. Returned 2 weeks later and delivered 5# female, a "DRY BIRTH"!! Rumor has it the doctor was "drunk" when he delivered me. I was septic and in the hospital 2 or 3 weeks. She was apparently "knocked out" for my older brothers delivery, and felt that my birth was extremely painful. The total bill for delivery and a 10 day stay in the hospital for mom and baby was $173.64 !! (I have the original bill! born in Kansas City Missouri in 1951). Times have changed! The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
