Re: Cystic fibrosisFrom: Pat Sonnenstuhl (cnmpat@halcyon.com)Sat May 16 09:29:18 1998
I would call the genetic counselors in your area and ask their opinion. I think there's a blood test to screen for the gene, and some good and recent information. If you need the name of a genetic counselor or genetic counselor, let me know. I know Mary Bridge in Tacoma has some great folks. I think all of the genetics folks want to be helpful, and might give information long distance and not make you come to them. She has several relatives with cystic fibrosis, although none in her immediate family (2 sisters have unaffected children.). She wants to know what her chances of having a child with cf and whether there are prenatal tests for it. I've looked on the net for some info, but found nothing definitive. The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
