Since I do not do cerclage or deliveries, I am curious. How strong is the suture material used? What is the expected sequence of events? Will the cervix tear or will the suture break? Seems one or the other must occur if premature deliver is to occur.

Once you have the management scenario under control, I would benefit from the above discussion.

By the way, great image. Let's put it up. http://www.obgyn.net/US/_uploads/CERCFAIL.JPG <http://www.obgyn.net/US/_uploads/CERCFAIL.JPG>

saw this yesterday. another case of cervical changes. just because you do a cerclage doesn't mean that it will prevent preterm delivery/miscarriage. just uploaded the image. any suggestions re: management?

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
