Re: Birth circumstances pollFrom: Anna Meenan, MD (annam@uic.edu)Tue May 5 15:04:00 1998
Bernard, I once knew a neurosurgeon who said she went into neurosurgery because she wasn't smart enough to go into family practice. NSVD at term to 33 y.o. G6P2 RN mom whose doc was trying out some sort of block that was new in 1954 (pudendal? epidural?), so as the assembled audience listened to the election returns(it was November) and the Democrats took control of Congress, I was born-8 1/2 pounds. The block must have slowed things down some because the two sibs born before me and the four born after were all delivered by residents or nurses due to their precipitousness. By the way, I grew up and went into family practice and had MY first after a 12-hour labor with 3-hour second stage--10 pounds and no shoulder dystocia.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
