I was a planned home birth at term (whatever that was in 1955) weighing in at 6 lbs 8 oz. Born to an RN mom who smoked. At my sister's birth in 1951, she had been forced under general anesthesia (gas) by the nurses (no MD present) at the hospital - who didn't know any other birth method. So - I think that was safer than the risk of maternal death from unnecessary general anesthesia.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
