In a message dated 98-04-29 12:39:18 EDT, you write: << Here we go again. Another useless attempt to correlate the EFM with outcomes. Its not what the strip shows at admission that counts, but what is done with the information. The only help I can offer is to not pursue this matter any further. Have a nice day.

>> In a similar vein - the latest Journal of Reproductive Medicine has a study of EFM and Knowledge of neonatal outcomes. Tracings were sent to reviewers and they were asked for comments on the management. A month later they were sent the SAME tracing but with a sham history regarding the neonatal outcome. And guess what! The reviewers were statistically more apt to be critical of the obstetrician when the outcome was known to be poor. The good retrospectroscope strikes again! The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
