A Poll: ResultsFrom: Bernard Cristalli (bcrist@club-internet.fr)Sun Apr 26 14:34:56 1998
11 answers to these questions 1. How many visits do you practice during a normal pregnancy? - 82% : once a month until 28 or 30 W, every 2 weeks until 36W, every week until term. -18% : Other answers (mainly less). 2. Do you perform a vaginal exam at each OB visit? - 58% : at the first visit then in the last month - 42% : No VE except patient's wish &/or medical need 3. How do you control the evolution of a delivery? Vaginal exam or not? At which rythm? - 36% : VE upon arrival then following the need - 64% : every 2 hours or more spaced. My own answers would have been 1. Every month until 37w then at least twice in the last month 2. Yes 3. Every hour or more following the need, whether the membranes are ruptured or not. Commentary: VE is less popular worldwide than in France. Further a thread began on the interest of VE. Is it useful or not? Is it dangerous? We had no answers from the british Isles [except Peter :-)] VE is supposed to be still less used downthere. I'll do this poll on the french speaking list too and will translate your answers.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
