hi

this came up on the ultrasound list. we do many amnios for patients with multiple pregnancy. we use NO dye. we ultrasound monitoring throughout the entire procedure and use the membrane as the marker for each sac. we've not had a problem in this regard. if you must use a dye, indigo carmine would be the one. methylene blue has been linked with intestinal atresia. also, there is the risk of methemoglobinemia. but see if the procedure can't be done without dye. hey, you can always come see us in queens, ny. :)

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
