Re: Increased S/D ratioFrom: art fougner, md (evsono@pipeline.com)Wed Apr 15 08:14:43 1998
hi, an S/D ( or A/B ) ratio of 7:1 suggests almost no end-diastolic flow. to quote the old dunkin donuts advert, "time to make the donuts!" have one quick question, did you not do an NST? strongly suggest that an NST be performed along with your biophysical. additionally, with regard to your patient presented, keep in mind that glucose STIMULATES fetal breathing. therefore, i am not sure how re-assuring the presence of fetal breathing is in light of poor glucose control. good luck! art

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
