Re: Circs - Peds or OB?From: Arthurfree (Arthurfree@aol.com)Wed Apr 1 21:39:56 1998
In a message dated 98-04-01 16:36:13 EST, you write: << dorsal penile block using a 30 ga needle and 1% plain lidocaine; about 0.2 cc on each side at 2 and 10 o'clock, and try to wait about 5 min. Linda Linda Morrison-Boczar, MD. MBA, FACOG >> In my experience, block tends to have peak effect at 10-15 minutes. I try to examine infant, inject, make postpartum rounds and come back to do circ. I generally use about 0.4cc @ 10 and 2 *intradermal* (less tendency to hematoma but may be reason it takes more drug and longer to work). Arthur Freeland Warrensburg Missouri

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
