Re: OB: PPROM at 19 weeksFrom: ATB28 (ATB28@aol.com)Fri Mar 13 19:39:01 1998
Geff: This situation is not unlike the patient who has spontaneous ROM after genetic amniocentesis (who is not infected). Our experience at Einstein, and most other large centers, is non-interventive with most leaks stopping and pregnancies continuing uneventfully. In my mind, this is NOT an indication for termination. We followed the patients with serial U/S scans - more for patient reassurance and interest than anything particularly diagnostic - and had many more successful, normal outcomes than adverse. As long as there are no signs of infection and there are no anomalies, I would continue conservative management. Allan T. Bombard, MD

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
