Re: OB A large caseFrom: Amy De Ruyscher (mrsd@javanet.com)Sat Mar 7 10:08:36 1998
Dr. Braun, I hope you don't mind me posting a question, but your case with this woman has me curious. I am a trainee for the Birth Works childbirth preparation program, and I just finished writing a research paper on pregnancy and nutrition, and came across a lot of information on the relationship between weight gain and nutrition. Would it be safe to say that this woman's pre-pregnancy weight was a big risk factor for her developing eclampsia, and hence the outcome of her birth? When I teach Birth Works, I may have clients who are not yet pregnant (we encourage education as early as possible, even before conception), and would like to be as informed as possible about weight before conception. This is a pretty powerful example of the effects of obesity on pregnancy and birth outcomes! Thanks in advance! Amy DeRuyscher Birth Works student Maine

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
