If however the patient wants to continue the pregnancy and you cannot locate the IUD strings, she has a definite risk of septic abortion - counsel her and keep a watchful eye for sepsis.If she is willing to have an MTP then there is no problem.But first, do an ultrasound at least to make sure that the IUD has not perforated the uterus.
