Re: GYN: GnRH analogues (was Fibroids and a Pelvic Kidney)

I have used GnRH analogues some for shrinking fibroids prior to hyst. with mixed results. It has made a difference in overall volume of fibroids a majority of the time, however, when morcellating during vag hyst, the fibroids don't seem to develop the pseudocapsule as well. The fibroids while smaller, seem to be more difficult to separate from the surrounding myometrium. I probably will be using it less often, if at all, in the future for the sole purpose of reduction of volume of fibroids prior to surgery.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education.
