Gary: Increased values (particularly in an obese woman, who one expect diluted analytes and decreased values) are worrisome - there are several reports in the medical literature about obstetric risks in women at risk for BOTH NTD (incr. MSAFP) and DS (increased hCG): IUGR, etc. [see 1996, 1997 Prenat Diag]. What were the specific, computed risks cited for DS and NTD? (And while I have you here....are you moving yet to the Quad test in NV?) Allan T. Bombard, MD

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
