Retained ovary followup

I recently posted a case of a women s/p hyst/bso who developed a tender 3x4 cm mass adjacent to the vaginal apex on the left. My differential was retained ovarian tissue vs endometriosis. She was on estradiol 2mg bid because of persistant hot flashes on lower dose regimens. FSH was suppressed to 2.

Two days ago I explored her and found no ovarian tissue or endometriosis but I did find a recently thrombosed 3mm vein which appeared to be either a uterine vein remnant or a vein from the bladder surrounded by fibrotic tissue. I wonder if her high dose ert predisposed her to venous thrombosis.

As we say in Maine:"Ain't that odd."

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
