Excuse me, If you have time could you offer a short response to my question? I am an RN at a small hospital. All our doctors (family practitioners) who deliver always clamp the cord twice and cut in the middle...take the baby to the warmer. Then deliver the placenta. We have a new doctor who does not clamp the cord at either end first. He cuts and leaves both ends bleeding. We are concerned that the mother might bleed excessively, or it might harm the baby. If you have a minute I would appreciate your opinion, Thank You, Karen Dotson

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
