Re: Prenatal RitualsFrom: Deborah J. Wage (wagedj@ctrvax.Vanderbilt.Edu)Tue Dec 30 22:52:27 1997
I have also found that women seem to enjoy listening to the heart with the fetoscope more than the doppler. I think it is more intimate....it sounds different. I've even got some of the dads going ahead and finding heart tones with the scope first, letting the mother listen and then me. I never count or write down a rate unless its obviously bradycardic or tachycardic. The fetoscope is also very useful in dating.....and aiding in the determination of fetal position sometimes. And I agree about the touch aspect.......I had a women say to me just today "I love it when you touch my baby, it feels so good". I think some of my patients don't have anyone touch them nicely very often. Deborah Wage, FNP,CNM Kaycnm wrote:

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
