God!!! I am coming up to 29 years of practice and have tried to run a cost effective practice during that time. BUT!!! I could not since the insurance companies would not pay for procedures in the office, they had to be done in the hospital. The HMOs still are not cost effective, by not paying a facility fee they force procedures that could be office based into the hospital or to a surgicenter. We can save money in the practice of medicine. Look at what you do and say is this test going to make a difference in what I do. if not is the test needed, or is being done since that is always the way we did it or is it because if sued we can say we did the "test".

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education.
