I agree that it has to do with the blood supply to the ovaries. My guess is, though, that all statistics create the pool effect to the "average age" of hormonal decline after simple hysterectomy. Thus, in the few patients where pedicle transection occurred close to the ovaries there was more likely chance of dysfunction. Also, women undergoing simple hysts are already a select group, more likely to have DUB, etc, possible due to hormonal alterations. The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education.
