Re: Ynt: Correct Placement of IUD'sFrom: John G. M. Robertson (jgmr@unixg.ubc.ca)Tue Dec 30 13:44:28 1997
I agree with Malcolm (see snipped portion below). Unless you are committed to a BPP (BioPhysical Prophile) at each visit, your ultrasound has no predictive value. Then I ask the question my preceptors always asked me - how will this test alter your management. A test with no predictive value will not help me avoid and IUFD (Intra uterine foetal death). All it will tell me is what is there at the moment. As for an US with insertion of an IUD what does that tell you about when she goes to her next step class or has a lousy period with lots of cramping? Is it going to stay exactly where you put it? -----Original Message----- From: Malcolm Griffiths <Malcolm@mgriff22.demon.co.uk> To: Multiple recipients of list <ob-gyn-l@talk.obgyn.net> Date: Tuesday, December 30, 1997 10:39 AM Subject: Re: Ynt: Correct Placement of IUD's

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
