Re: treatment of mild preeclampsia

I was disappointed to see that the discussion of this case seemed to include anti-HMO griping. If the patient simply had mild preeclampsia, with NO signs of severe disease than expectant management and bedrest at home would have been appropriate. In this case the apparent growth restriction ( sorry I don't have any numbers and tables handy) in and of itself seems to be a reasonable indication for induction. That's a decision that could have been made and defended by any OB whether or not they practice in a managed care system. That's my 2 cents..

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
