Re: Wound dehiscenseFrom: ATFSOCCER@aol.comWed Dec 3 13:38:14 1997
In a message dated 97-12-02 01:07:33 EST, you write: << I did a C-section on a 300+ lb patient last week. Did not put in a subcu drain (probably should have). Developed a dehiscense of the entire subq and skin. Fascia in tact. Presently, the incision is clean with good granulation tissue. No pus. No fever. Incision was packed and irrigated over the past several days. Let it heal by secondary intention, resuture, or steristrip? Robert Brenner MD FACOG >> I have had good luck with two similar patients, with resuturing in the office after local injection with xylocaine and closure with verticle mattress sutures. "0" something or other and removal in about 10 days with steristrips on for 2 weeks. Andy Folley MD FACOG Toledo

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
