Re: ACOG and labor inductions.From: rbraun@iupui.eduWed Dec 3 13:15:18 1997
Larry's quote says absolutely nothing about "Elective induction". If you live 2 hours from the hospital, the induction is not for convenience. Psychosocial problems are as real and serious as physical problems. These are "Indications" for induction. "Elective" induction is if I do it 2 days before I go on vacation just so she will be delivered before I go. Or if I do it because her Mother came at 36 weeks and wants to see the baby before she goes home 3 weeks later. There has never been a technical bulletin saying that "Elective" induction is OK. The latest NO 217 does not mention elective induction at all. R. Daniel Braun, MD FACOG On Sun, 30 Nov 1997, Ed Shackeroff wrote:

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
