When discussing cases on the list it is strongly recommended that you obtain the patient's consent beforehand or refrain from presenting detail that might easily identify that patient.

Please refrain from providing medical advice to patients on this list.

Description:

OB-GYN-L: A list for obstetricians and gynecologists

OB-GYN-L is a list for obstetricians and gynecologists and related medical professionsals to discuss topics of interest in the practice of their specialty. Discussion includes journal articles, medical economics, and interesting cases. This list is unmoderated and open to all subscribers.

List Title: OB-GYN-L: OB/GYN List List Owner: Geffrey H. Klein, MD, geffrey.klein@obgyn.net List Administrator: ob-gyn-l-request@obgyn.net List Host: OBGYN.net ( http://www.obgyn.net )

OB-GYN-L ON THE WEB!!!

If you do not want to receive forum messages as Email, we now offer a Web front end. You do not have to subscribe to the forum if you are using our web front end. You can access & search the archives of this forum from the Web. http://www.obgyn.net/english/forums/forums.htm

GUIDELINES FOR OB-GYN-L:

WHAT OB-GYN-L IS:

OB-GYN-L is a list for discussion of topics of interest to obstetricians and gynecologists.

WHAT OB-GYN-L IS NOT:

OB-GYN-L is not for asking medical questions. There are appropriate forums including Women's Health on OBGYN.net on the Internet for patients to ask questions of physicians.

OB-GYN-L does not accept advertisements. Questions and discussions initiated by OB-GYN-L subscribers about products and services ARE appropriate. This provides an avenue for help, hints and recommendations among the colleagues on this list.

PLEASE!!! DO NOT FLAME EACH OTHER ON THE LIST. There is a difference a between healthy disagreement and downright nastiness (I can't define it, but I know it when I see it). If you have an opinion for someone send it directly to them. People subscribed to the list may lose interest if this becomes a problem. I WILL and HAVE removed people from the list for this offense.

GUIDELINES FOR MESSAGES:

1) Always use a descriptive subject line.

2) Always sign your postings. Include your name, your e-mail address and your institutional affiliation. But don't go overboard.

3) Do not send encoded documents to the list. ASCII text only, please.

*** NEW *** If you wish to share a document or other encoded attachment with the ob-gyn-l readership DO NOT EMAIL IT TO the list. Instead, send it to the list administrator at ob-gyn-l-request@obgyn.net. Your document will then be placed on the OBGYN.net ftp server and an URL will be emailed back to you that you can then use to announce to the ob-gyn-l readers where they can find the document. This solves these problems: a) large files or emails should not be sent to a list of people without their prior consent b) many people's email programs can not handle attached documents c) it strains the OBGYN.net list processor which degrades its performance for all functions while sending out over 700 copies of this file d) documents must be virus checked before being distributed - there is no faster way to get 700+ people mad at you then sending out an infected document.

4) Please try to keep the "chaff" - the messages that don't need to be sent to the entire list - to a minimum. These should be sent directly to the offerer. If you are unsure how to direct your reply to the individual instead of the list, check with your local e-mail system administrators. You may have to create a fresh message rather than using a reply function. (Remember that OB-GYN-L is configured so that replies are sent to the entire list, not just the individual who posted the message.)

To determine whether something should be sent to the entire list, ask yourself "Does this only involve one person, or will many OB-GYN-L readers likely be interested in my message?"

5) When sending a reply to the list, DO NOT INCLUDE THE ENTIRE PREVIOUS MESSAGE. Extract any relevant portions, if necessary.

6) Keep your postings within the scope of the list.

7) Absolutely NO Profanity will be tolerated

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
