Midwives as list-members (was c/sec in 14 y/o)From: Malcolm Griffiths (Malcolm@mgriff22.demon.co.uk)Sun Nov 30 06:37:51 1997

Perhaps because I am one of the very samll number of ob/gyns on their two lists. Occasionally I see things on their list which make me see red. Sometimes I even start to compose a reply, but then I wise up and press abandon/delete. My impression her too is that the small number of midwives on this (ob/gyn) list tend to confine their comments to areas within their practice, expertise and experience. I'm not sure that the comments in this thread by midwives have gone beyond that. Clearly Riocardo's practice is outwith what I would personally recognise as acceptable or correct (in this matter). I too feel that he shows some courage in laying himself open to criticism in this way (for which we should all respect him). Nevertheless I can see no problem with polite, diplomatic and constructive criticism from fellow ob/gyns or other PROFESSIONALLY involved in the delivery of maternity care. Just my two cents! The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
