Those patients responded to more conservative therapy (corticosteroids, or at least I imagine so). I was once referred a patient who had an attempted myomectomy at 22 weeks. The membranes "hourglassed" through the inscision when the fibroid was removed. The membranes were reduced, the defect was repaired and the patient was sent to our service post operatively. Despite antibiotics and indomethacin, the patient ruptured her membranes and one week later delivered a baby vaginally who expired at 2 days of age (pretty gutsy delivery for a guy who wishes he never heard of the term VBAC). That is my only experience/horror story with myomectomy during pregnancy. Gary Kleinman, M.D. Perinatologist/Geneticist Still in Pensacola for a few days

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
