See Ob/Gyn News November 15, 1997 Page 5.

So far there have been 3 reports to the FDA of heart defects in babies born to women who took "fen-phen". But these are not similar to the valvular defects that have been identified in the users of "fen-phen". The FDA is studying these cases, but so far there has been no evidence to link these defects to fen-phen. Of the 74 women registered with the California Teratogen Information and Clinical Research Program, 27 have delivered and report that "they are normal, with no evidence of heart or any other birth defects. No mention of cleft palates.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
