hi

a case of ruptured uterus involving a trial of labor with a previous low transverse incision was just presented in our hospital - a tertiary facility. the patient labored in a "controlled" environment; but despite prompt response to a sudden onset of fetal distress, the outcome was very sad. i would suggest that in a patient with a classical uterine incision, labor in any environment is contra-indicated and elective repeat cesarean delivery as soon as fetal lung maturity is documented should be the rule.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
