Re: LEEP and HGSILFrom: ATFSOCCER@aol.comTue Nov 11 21:36:48 1997
In a message dated 97-11-08 10:57:34 EST, you write: << However, I have had several patients with HGSIL paps that end up having only CIN I on biopsy and require only close f/u. Personally, I prefer to have a tissue diagnosis prior to definitive treatment, but can certainly understand some clinicians use of the "see and treat" method. Miles Mahan Maj. MD Dept. Of OB/GYN >> Miles, If you are off by more than 1 grade on your tissue diagnosis verses the pap screen would you not be concerned that you are missing a higher grade lesion? I would think that you would be obligated to do a cold knife conization or leep cone to adequately rule out a potentially worse lesion. Andy Folley MD Toledo, Ohio

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
