I'm In Crete!!!From: Barbara Nesbitt (barbara.nesbitt@OBGYN.net)Sun Nov 2 13:24:56 1997
Hi Everyone, I am at a Cyber-cafe in Iraklio aka Herakleion, Crete... We have been her for six days and have a few more to go. We are having a wonderful time and it is a greqat place. Knossos is the Home of the Minoan Civilization and the first place that was inhabited by people in Europe, The digs are wonderful going back to 2000BC. Everone and his brother has taken over this place throughout the centuries and now today a New Group have arrived. The heads oof the Balken countries, the Serbs, Albanians ect. and the Priemiers of Turkey and Greece all arrived at "our" peacful island and the place is crawling with police. We were out for a peaceful ride in the country and couldn't figure out what was going on with more police cars then I thought they could possibly own and police Standinding along the highway and cars roaring along the road. Well when we returned to out hotel we found out the place ahd been taken over. Leave it to us to pick a hideaway with all the fighting countries!!! We are riding around in our rented "Full Coverage" car with the rear bumper in the Back Seat as my friend ripped it of going around one fo the very sharp corners on the very narrow streets of the city a couple of days ago. So we will always be remembered in Crete as the two crazy Americans, I'm sure. I have a new friend here at the Cyber-Cafe and it is a jumping place. Just wanted to say hello to one and all.
