Re: Ultrasound screening in adavanced maternal age.From: DMECNM@aol.comThu Oct 30 17:51:21 1997
In a message dated 97-10-30 16:27:11 EST, you write: << If a patient declines amnio, do you recommend an ultrasound.
If you recommend ultrasound, do you: Do it in your office
Send the patient to
radiology
Send the patient to
an
MFM (if available)
>> In "our" practice, all AMA pts are referred to genetic consultation with a Perinatal Group. My OB does not do amnios. There, if the pt declines amnio, she is offered ultrasound. Knocked me out of my shoes when I found out that they charge $1800 for the amnio alone. Is that the going rate for amniocentesis? WOW!!! The consultation is $171.60. Why that figure? I haven't a clue. Denise, CNM

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
