I would like to make members aware of a relatively new web site that will be of interest to most people caring for obstetrical patients (clients). The site is http://www.motherisk.org. Could I also ask someone to add this to the Canadian sites that are listed?

here is an introduction to the site:

The Motherisk Program at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, was created in 1985 to provide evidence-based information and guidance concerning the potential risks to the developing fetus or infant, from exposure to drugs, chemicals, diseases, radiation and environmental agents.

Throughout the past 12 years, Motherisk services and specialized clinical care, have given pregnant, planning, and breast-feeding women the opportunity for rational treatment in pregnancy and while breast - feeding, the means to make well-informed choices, and a healthy start for their unborn children.

Ground-breaking research on reproductive risk, hands-on training of new practitioners, and unbiased, post-marketing surveillance of hundreds of drugs and chemicals, have translated into specialized care for thousands of women and their children.

This web site is one more feature of Motherisk's unique and vital services. Built in collaboration with the Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Canada (SOGC) this site is designed to:

•describe our programs and long-term objectives,

•highlight important findings in maternal-fetal health, treatment and care,

•share some of our extensive findings in maternal-fetal toxicology,

•point the way to other medical resources.

In time, this web site will also support

•new Motherisk research,

•the exchange of knowledge and solutions among scientists and physicians,

•dynamic new services for our clients and the many professionals with whom we work.

Please explore our site and watch for new features over the months to come.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
