Re: HRT in women with menopause more then 10 years agoFrom: ATFSOCCER@aol.comSat Oct 4 21:57:48 1997
In a message dated 97-10-03 19:35:47 EDT, you write: << What do you think about initiating hormonal replacement therapy in a 63 yo patient with menopause at 50, have never used HRT and had a evaluation of bone density revealing moderate osteoporosis. Is it worthwhile to initiate just that late? Do you have references? Thanks for your comments Jose Ferreira >> I think that the newer studies are suggesting that even late HRT is better than none at all. At least it will significantly delay the bone mass she has left. Clinically I would couple the HRT with 10 mg daily of Fosamax to build up the bone. (Cant give you any references off the top of my head) Andy Folley MD FACOG Toledo OH

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
