Re: Alcohol while on callFrom: Arthurfree@aol.comThu Oct 2 16:44:21 1997
In a message dated 97-09-23 19:22:23 EDT, you write: << Aren't some of the postings confounding being drunk with having a glass of wine?! Jose Ferreira >> Jose, No question. Many of the US responses come from our current climate that ANY alcohol on board implies impairment. It was not so twenty years ago and I'm not certain what it will be twenty years hence, but for now it is one of our leading intolerances. In most institutions here, anyone who smells of alcohol in the slightest will be marched down to the lab for a serum level and probably reprimanded if it is not zero, and lose priveleges and probably license if it approaches legally intoxicated. The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
