Ditto, ditto, and ditto.

I rarely find internal monitoring useful, although I will use an IUPC when there is no change in cervical exam over a few hours despite what appears to be adequate uterine contractions (by observation of the fetal monitor and the unpatented Braun MANS UNIT). All c/sections for arrest of dilatation on Medicaid patients at our hospital *require* an IUPC to document adequacy of labor. Mind you, I didn't make the rule.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
