>> The Mogen crushes less tissue (it is a "knife edge" clamp), but the mechanism of hemostasis with all of these clamps is that a small amount of crushed devitalized tissue remains on the margin of healthy tissue. This is why "clamp time" is somewhat important with both (more so for the Gomco)- the tissue needs to be completely devitalized to prevent bleeding. The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit.
