Integrating FP's in Ob/Gyn officesFrom: * ¿ (obdoc@inmind.com)Thu Aug 7 21:40:42 1997
Dear Fellow Listees, Do any of you have a private ob/gyn practice in which also Family Practitioner works? I am considering integrating a FP into my office and am desperate for some sage advise from those who are there and are doing it. (Present tense of "been there/done that"). How many ob/gyn docs & how many FP's are there in your practice. Does the FP deliver babies? Does he/she do C-Sections?! Does the FP take call in rotation with the ob's? Do the FP and Ob's deliver eachother's patients? Are there patients who want only to be delivered by the ob and not by the FP? Does the FP serve as attending physician for most all the babies delivered by all the office's docs? With whom does the FP share call for things like newborn coveage? At the office, does the FP see older children / adult patients? Males? What are your candid impressions of this system in your office? What would you do differently next time. Would there BE a next time? Does it matter to you if the FP is of a certain gender? Thank you for taking the time to share with me your experiences and insights. You may respond to me privately and off the list if you wish. Thanks, Don

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
